I'm sure many have noticed (or been confounded by) the new requirement that you bring your SSN card to get your drivers license renewed (not sure but might be required for title transfers as well).  Of course this is another example of half truths told by the poorly trained clerks at these pseudo government organizations.

The real requirement is that you provide proof of your SSN number.  There are a number of acceptable documents according to the Ohio BMV website list of acceptable documents .  The list of acceptable secondary ID's allowed includes a variety of easily falsified documents, 'human services card', 'employer identification card - with photo', 'health insurance card', 'out of state voter ID card' (note that it has to be out of state???) and various tax forms.

This is rather mind boggling, as noboby verifies these documents at all.  The health insurance card doesn't even need a photo, just a name and SSN.

Presumably the claimed purpose is to make sure to get a valid SSN (which we were assured a long time ago would never be used for identification purposes).

I urge everyone to create their own employer ID cards, just make sure it's got a birth date, SSN, your name and picture of you and they will accept it.  Of course, use your own SSN.. the point here isn't to defraud, the point is to educate people and show yet another example of how you are being fooled.  Fooled by those in in power who will create rules and regulations under the pretense of security that are actually designed to condition the people at large into giving up more rights, freedoms, and privacy; all for an illusion of security.

I hope someday that more people wake up and realize what's going on, but I'm not holding my breath.
