Seems that the mainstream media is finally bothering to report on the legitimate security problems with contactless RFID credit/debit cards.

I was looking for a new banking institution (due to Charter One playing games with fees). During my investigation of Credit Unions I found that most (if not all) use outside companies to handle their on-line banking solutions. One of these companies is R.C. Olmstead.
PCI Compliance

Seems things keep changing and getting more and more wishy washy with the PCI Council. There is still not way to get any straight answers, and one of my clients systems has been sitting in their queue for approval nearly a year now. If you're going to try and improve security, and then get an industry to force your plans on everbody else.. You'd damn well better be ready to follow up.

Shotgun Debugging

Wikipedia describes shotgun debugging as a process of making relatively undirected changes to software in the hope that a bug (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_bug) will be perturbed out of existence. I think that's a simple misconception of whoever wrote the jargon file, which is what this Wiki page is based on. I've used what I describe as 'Shotgun Debugging' successfully on dozens of bugs. Read more to get details of the latest (for anyone who cares).

From the bad business files - ACS/Mellon HSA

An associate of mine has an HSA account through ACS/Mellon via an employer. It started out just fine, but they kept lowering the interest over the course of 3 years to the point where it's now 0.25%! That doesn't cover the fees they charge.
